
This FREE workshop, grant funded by RISCA and led by instructor Kim Johnson, LMHC, MT-BC, provides a safe space for LGBTQ+ adults to explore their experience(s) as an LGBTQ+ person, especially in the current socio political environment, to cultivate an outlet for self-expression and emotional processing, and, ultimately, learn how to integrate the healing power of songwriting into their day to day lives.
All levels of experience are welcome!

DETAILS: 8 sessions total; session 7 (5/28) will be a live showcase performance where participants can share one original song with a supportive audience. The group max will be 12 participants to ensure adequate time for each individual to get the support they need.
Participants in this group can expect a welcoming, affirming space to create and explore identity, guided prompts and collaborative exercises, tools for emotional expression and reflection through music, gentle support and feedback from the instructor, community connection.

This Drumming & Wellness group led by instructor Kim Johnson, LMHC, MT-BC, is a music therapy and education group, participants will learn basic percussion techniques, engage in rich discussion about mental health topics faced by LQBTQ+ individuals, and learn a variety of coping strategies, including mindfulness, to increase their overall wellness.
The group meets from 4-6PM one Sunday a month:
1/4, 2/1, 3/1, 4/12, 5/3, 6/7

This workshop is completely FREE!

The PVD House music therapy program provides group music classes and programs for queer, curious, or allied people of all musical abilities who have an interest in exploring music, new ways of expressing themselves and building supportive relationships in a safe, affirming environment.
Kim (she/they) creates a welcoming, comfortable space for self-discovery making the creative process therapeutic and rewarding.
